Our nonprofit's capture rate fell due to macro-level forces. DogsBite.org - Last September, we published the 2020 Macro-Level Forces Report for U.S. dog bite fatality data. During 2020, the first Covid year, our nonprofit had a 15-victim deficit compared to CDC Wonder underlying cause of death (UCD) data, a 28% difference in the number of deaths. The victim deficit during the second pandemic year is even higher. CDC Wonder data shows there were 81 dog bite fatalities in 2021. Our nonprofit only recorded 52 deaths, a 44% difference. 81 fatal dog attacks in a single year are the most ever recorded by CDC data. This is a 69% increase from 2019 and a 131% increase from 2018. Diana Riveros says she was dropping off groceries at a home in Cooper City on Oct. 6, when she realized there was a billing error and turned back to the house. Recounting the attack in an interview with CP24, Anita Brown said she first heard the canines at a bus stop near Martin Grove Road and John Garland Boulevard while on her way home on Wednesday evening. "While I was there, I heard a growl behind me, so then I turned my head, and I saw two dogs behind me," Brown said. "I don't know where they came from. When I looked, there was nobody with them." Brown said the two dogs surrounded her, prompting her to pray."I said, please, Lord, don't tell me these two dogs is gonna attack me," she said. At the time, Brown had a personal shopping cart. NORTH HIGHLANDS – A dog is now in the custody of animal control after it attacked a mailman in North Highlands. The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office said, a little after 1 p.m., the 73-year-old US Postal Service employee was delivering mail along the 4400 block of Brandt Way when a pit bull attacked him. While the owner of the dog tried to stop the attack, the sheriff's office said it took a passerby who saw the incident to call 911. The passerby was also somehow able to get the mailman to safety before deputies and medics arrived. Deputies said the mailman suffered injuries to his face, arms and feet. Medics took the mailman to the hospital, but the sheriff's office said he didn't need surgery. No one else was hurt in the incident. Dog has been euthanized after attacking mailman in Sacramento County. Full Story MIAMI -- A worker for Miami-Dade County was hospitalized after she was attacked by two dogs while attempting to serve an eviction notice in the city's Little Havana neighborhood, authorities said. The victim, who was not immediately identified, was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital for treatment after the incident, which occurred around 11 a.m. in the 200 block of SW 9th Avenue, police said. Investigation The scene after a county worker was bitten by a dog Tuesday morning in Miami. She was said to be in stable condition and being treated for dog bites to her head and lower body. According to police, the woman was trying to deliver the eviction document when she was bitten by two American Bulldogs.
